Most of Ho’s artworks begin with the exploration of his own senses and bodily perception. They appear as self-portraitures through the visual presentation of his own body imagery employing different media, such as object making, installation, photography and video. The visual presentation materialises and projects the innate personal experience as means of artistic expression which is expected to make up the communication between the “Self” and the “Other”.

Born in 1960 in Sydney, Australia, Robert Iolini is a media artist and composer. His works are detailed poetic essays/narratives, stylistically diverse and united by a philosophical approach. Iolini’s talent lies in his ability to shape apparently disparate elements into meaningful works of art. His unique application of musical processes, journalism and montage allows his works to transcend categorisation. His multidisciplinary approach makes his works ideal for cross-media commissioning projects, including major works for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Centre for Contemporary Culture of Barcelona, Danish National Radio, Netherlands Program Service and Big hArt Inc. His piece Hong Kong: City in Between was a prize winner in the Soundscapes (be)for(e) 2000 festival in Amsterdam.

Gukzik Lau graduated from the Ontario College of Art in Toronto in 1976. In 1988, she received a bursary from the British Council to pursue further studies at the Royal College of Art in London where she obtained a Master’s degree with distinction in 1990.
Lau’s early artistic interest was in traditional printmaking. She later employed modern printing machines and materials such as offset machine, photocopier, fax machine and digital output to create her works. Her recent interest is in writing, which connotes both literary writings and calligraphy, so the juxtaposition of words and images is her new attempt in art. Lau describes herself as a “painting writer” rather than a printmaking artist. Her works can be found in numerous private and public collections, including Hong Kong Fringe Club, Hong Kong Museum of Art, Hong Kong Heritage Museum, and the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Offices in Washington and San Francisco.

Stella So came to the knowledge of the Tiananmen Student Movement at Primary 6. In order to find answers to so many why’s, she drew a series of weird and disquieting characters such as wild horses running wild to block the passage of tanks. Drawing was an act in solitude, and those days were long until she stepped into the fanzine circle around the handover time in 1997. In five years’ time, she and her fanzine friends published several collected works. She is not particularly proud of these works but of the strange and true friends she has made. Later, So started making animations when she studied graphic design. She won the First Prize of The 8th Hong Kong Independent Short Film & Video Awards (ifva) with her seven-minute Very Fantastic, which expressed her thoughtful feelings to the living space in Hong Kong. After graduation, she worked for a lifestyle magazine for two years, drawing illustrations for articles. By chance, she started to work on the new comic series, “HK Powder” published in her weekly column in Milk. In 2005, at the i-city Festival of the HKAC, she released the animation Lonely Moon Tram, in which she captured the disappearing Hong Kong culture and collective memory of our times. She sees the work as solace for her disappointment with the epoch.
