Maria Lobo participated in the graduate studies in Advance Painting at San Francisco Art Institute, California, U.S.A. from 1993 to 1994, and received a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from The University of Santa Clara, California, U.S.A. in 1985. She has participated in "Fringe Festival" (Fringe Club, Hong Kong, 1996); "Open Studio 2000" (Artist's Studio Hong Kong, 2000) and "Import Export Show" (Woman Made Gallery, Chicago, U.S.A., 2001).
