Art@Lunch is a programme emphasising community engagement, cultural exchange and diversity, offering an alternative way of art appreciation to the hustling Wanchai neighborhood as well as those who live and work in nearby district areas during lunchtime. To celebrate International Jazz Day, Art@Lunch present the Sheryl Bailey 3 (SB3) from USA.

Hailed as a “sizzling guitar goddess,” Sheryl Bailey has transcended the familiar trip of organ, guitar, and drums and raised it to an exciting new plane. The Sheryl Bailey 3, consisting of Sheryl Bailey, Ian Froman and Ron Oswasnki, offers a new spin on the popular organ trip format pioneered by past Hammond B-3 masters Jimmy Smith and Jack McDuff.

The SB3 is just as funky and soulful as these classic organ-led groups, and also bears the influences of Sheryl’s guitar inspirations Wes Montgomery and Pat Martino. To transport her audience to a new level, Sheryl has crafted an ever-growing repertoire of hip, contemporary tunes. The programme will explore the roots of the ensemble of blues, shuffles, New Orleans "2nd line" grooves, and swing rhythms by revisiting those traditions, and with their own sense of modernity and style.

Sheryl Bailey was chosen as a Jazz Ambassador for the U.S. State Department in 2000 for a South American tour. She is currently an Associate Professor of Berklee College of Music.
