Date & Time:
08/06/2018 - 15/07/2018  From 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm

Renowned for his humorous and optimistic character, Seung-gun Siu-keung was one of the masters for comedy comics in Hong Kong. The laughter he brought to the readers with his masterpiece Sau Sing Zai is everlasting. Want to take a stroll down memory lane and flip through his comics? Comix Salon will display Sau Sing Zai Comics 40th Anniversary Supplement and other Siu-keung’s famous works over the years, paying tribute to this legendary Hong Kong comics artist.

Serialised from the 1970s to the ‘90s, with over 400 issues, Sau Sing Zai Comics integrates different columns, four-frame comics and short comic strips into one. All the hilarious stories revolve around the protagonist Sau Sing Zai, a five feet tall, nine-and-a-half-year-old boy who is precocious, teaming up with passionate youngster Keung and detective Pang Sir. In addition to the original ‘scripts’, some of the stories are adapted from popular movies and Japanese manga at that time, such as Wild 7 and Kamen Rider. It also has a ‘crossover’ series with Tony Wong's Siu So Sin. Right from the first issue, Sau Sing Zai has been a household name in Hong Kong.

Siu-keung not only spearheaded the new wave of Cantonese comedy comics, he also paved the way for up-and-coming comics artists. The comics anthology edited by him has been a significant platform for comics artists to showcase their talents. Those who made their debut at the anthology, e.g. Khoo Fuk-lung, Kam Siu-man, Li Chi-tak etc., have now become the pillars of the comics industry. Siu-keung was a one-of-a-kind, all-round comics artist, his charisma could still be seen from his works.
