“Prolong the life of art- a journey, a treasure.” Art and culture always go hand in hand with our daily life. The literati used to collect calligraphy, paintings and art objects in the past; now we collect comic books, films and limited edition furniture. Art appreciation is an essential part of collecting art. The Hong Kong Arts Centre is now bringing art out of the museum, into the homes of many. “Art Habitat” is a research project aiming to study and encourage art collecting. The rental scheme benefits individuals with short term art loans, by putting art in a brand new context- each “adopted artwork” is to able to dwell in a domestic environment. Photography, painting and ceramic artwork will be provided by graduates and current students from the Hong Kong Art School, to be loaned by the public.Art habitat - a guide for domestic art display booklet, filled with tips on displaying art in a domestic setting, will also be enclosed.
