Based on director’s true childhood story, The Story of Southern islet narrated the tale of people living in the border of Thailand-Malaysia with the encounters of Shamanism. The story unveiled in a small village in Kedah at the Thailand-Malaysia border. Set in 1987 at the foot of Mount Keriang, Cheong was a believer of folk god Datuk Gong, while his wife Yan thoughts the otherwise on his believe. One day, Cheong accidentally damages his neighbour’s house while chasing a snake on the shrine of Datuk Gong. The neighbours Aunty Kaew and Nam was furious and triggered a fight. Later the night Nam was killed by a truck on his way to gather materials for house repairing. Aunty Kaew was then no longer seen in the village. Days later Cheong fell sick suddenly when he was working on the fields and vomited several rusty nails covered in blood. Being told that her husband was spelled, Yan focused on bringing her husband to the hospital for treatment. But Cheong was not getting any better after months of remedy seeking…

Ticket price: $80 / 64*
*Full-time students and senior citizens aged 60 or above, people with disabilities and the minder,  Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) recipients. Concessionary tickets are available on a first come, first served basis. Ticket holders must present proof of eligibility on admission.
*HKAC members. Ticket holders must present a valid membership card upon admission.
*For each purchase of 4 or more standard tickets.

  • Cinema staff have the right to deny the admission of any person with temperature higher than 37.5°C
