【NEWS!】 POP-UP Comics Exhibition period to be extended for ONE WEEK!! 

 

The Hong Kong Arts Centre (Comix Home Base) proudly recommends the monochromatic comic compilation The Saga of Kunlun Mountain published this July. Original comics by three Hong Kong comics artists are included in The Saga of Kunlun Mountain, they are Rage of the Youth by Chi-kit Kwong, The Haunted Star by Wai-cheong Luk, and The Saga of Kunlun Mountain by Tin-kit Mark.

This compilation is a work by three Hong Kong comics artists who are also great storytellers: Wai-cheong Luk is a veteran in the creative industry and is known for his usage of meticulous composition as a tool for narratives; Tin-kit Mark has published varies action comics, his Tao Zero was awarded the Bronze Award of the International Manga Award by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan in 2019. Chi-kit Kwong may be the youngest of the trio but has already shown exceptionally sophisticated command of the graphic design and the pace of the narratives. The three fantastic stories on the fabled Kunlun Mountain collected in this work are each individually developed and drawn by the trio. Packed with elements of fantasy, action and the mystics, this book showcases the individualistic styles of the three comics artists.

  The Saga of Kunlun Mountain POP-UP Comics Exhibition

Each of the three comics artists will select drawings collected in the new book, including hand drawings from Rage of the Youth by Chi-kit Kwong and The Saga of Kunlun Mountain by Tin-kit Mark, and printings from The Haunted Star by Wai-cheong Luk. Visitors can savour the original tastes of three different stylistic interpretations of the legendary sagas on the Kunlun Mountain!

A sharing session will be hosted by Fatmoonba, he will join the audience to find out the stories behind The Saga of Kunlun Mountain: from how the trio came together to their journey producing this book. As veterans in the industry, Wai-cheong Luk and Tin-kit Mark will share with us how they feel about their own careers and their views on the production of indie comics nowadays. Chi-kit Kwong will talk about how, despite never truly “joined” the industry, he is passionate about comics.

Limited seating available on site, audience can also join the sharing session on online platforms.

 

Remarks:

Wai-cheong Luk and Chi-kit Kwong are currently not in Hong Kong. They will participate through video conference.

Comics artist Tin-kit Mark will sign the new book The Saga of Kunlun Mountain for readers.

The Saga of Kunlun Mountain is available at The HKAC Art Shop located at the G/F Lobby.

  • You may attend the Book Signing Session once you have successfully reserved a seat for the Artist Talk;
  • If you are in the Waiting List of the Artist Talk reservation, and you want to ensure you quota of Book Signing Session, you are suggested to register the Book Signing Session separately;

Born in Hong Kong, Chi-kit Kwong is passionate in drawing since childhood, studied and worked in the USA for years. Kwong has earned his BFA and MFA from the stay in USA, was involved in the advertising industry in his early years, participated in various exhibitions, won some awards, and wrote art columns. He started to engage in illustration and teaching job since 2009 after returning to Hong Kong.

 

陸偉昌Wai-cheong LUK

Wai-cheong Luk has worked at Jademan Comics and Jonesky Limited as cover illustrator. He has devoted to film art and storyboard design later. Meanwhile, he also participated in the comics creation for the film Kung Fu Cyborg; Taiwan Documentary Comics Monsoon Vol.1; and was selected as one of the comics trial work in the Hong Kong booth of Angouleme International Comics Festival 2020.

Tin-kit Mark participates in comics creation for years, his comics works include God of War (1997), Tao (2002), Infatuation (2003), The Warring States: The Untold Story Tactics Guide (2017), Tao Zero (2019) etc., and Tao Zero has won the Bronze award of the 13th Japan International Manga Award.
