【Hong Kong Arts Centre】and 【Comix Home Base】co-present “The Pitch of Tension – Hong Kong Comics Power” Exhibition
Co-presented by the Hong Kong Arts Centre and Comix Home Base, and sponsored by Create Hong Kong of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the opening ceremony was successfully concluded at Comix Home Base last night (July 18, 2017).
The Hong Kong Arts Centre strives to promote Hong Kong comics, by bringing a total of nine Hong Kong comics artists and publisher to participate in the Angoulême International Comics Festival in France this January, with the exhibition titled “The Pitch of Tension – Hong Kong Comics Power”. It has received overwhelming response from the global visitors before it was returned to Hong Kong now. To celebrate the 4th anniversary of Comix Home Base, the exhibition will be restaged at the Comix Home Base with series of activities from 13th July to 7th August to promote Hong Kong action comics to the local public.
Showcasing six different kinds of “force”, the exhibition gives Hong Kong action comics a new definition through the giant comic books which were also exhibited in Angoulême and many other original and multi-media artworks created by the participating artists and publisher that are full of action. A series of talks and live drawing sessions will also be held in parallel with the exhibition, encouraging participants to explore the force and aesthetics of local action comics. The Hong Kong Arts Centre has the honor to invite three European comics practitioners and artist to come to Hong Kong to share their exciting works and comics culture and the talk given by Fabrice Douar(Representative of Musée du Louvre and the Curator of “Louvre Museum BD Project”)was wonderfully held at the Comix Home Base last Sunday (July 16, 2017), and more programmes will be held in the next couple of weeks, stay tuned!

Apart from the “explosive force” of muscular characters, there are also the flash-like “speed”, the “rhythm” of body movements, the “stunning effect” of tremendous scenes, the “heat” and “friction” created between rivals, the “tension” interlaced in scripts…
