What’s Happening with Hong Kong Arts Centre? A Brief Update

Dear Friends of the Hong Kong Arts Centre,

The current outbreak of the coronavirus does present a significant challenge for nearly all the sectors of the local community and the entire world, we at the Hong Kong Arts Centre, on the one hand, are trying to the best of our ability to minimize the risk of the further spread of the virus with all the necessary precautions to ensure the health and safety of our employees and visitors to our Centre, whilst on the other, we are planning strategically to provide the general public with the power of ART in order to send a positive vibe to the public amid difficult times.

In the wake of social distancing and in alignment with the recommendations on protective measures of the CHP, Department of Health, HKSARG, Hong Kong Arts Centre is using digital platforms to help fill the cultural vacuum and go art on live. Bringing colour in our every life through practicing traditional but innovative heritage crafts - an interesting Paper Cutting programme - we can celebrate our heritage at home to develop our creativity for the future; our March 10 Music On Live@House Music Series, supported by a professional videography team, had been enjoyed by many viewers online. We will continue to share our monthly street music performance House Music Series on line to ensure music lovers are able to enjoy wonderful music performance at home.

To update you all that we will be showing a unique exhibition and organizing a talk and a book launch by one of the most important comics artists in Hong Kong, Master Li Chi-tak, on March 28, 2020 (Saturday) on the 3/F of the Centre, a wonderful crossover, led by Hong Kong Arts Centre, between Hong Kong comics and the Legendary Musée du Louvre. It is also the first time a local comics artist was invited as Hong Kong’s representative to curate a comics book about the Louvre. The exhibition will be held from March 27 till 29 ( an inclusive of 3 days), we also would love to welcome you next Saturday to come by at anytime between 2:30pm through 5:00pm for a good taste of the power of local comics.

We are still holding out hope that the virus can soon be contained, whilst meanwhile, please stay tuned to our forthcoming wonderful programmes in the Q2 including House music series in mid April, a unique exhibition hosted by the Hong Kong Art School: In the course of Dancing, from Nightfall to Darkness to be held at the Hong Kong Art School Gallery (10/F of the Centre) from March 21 – April 27, 2020, and many other fascinating programmes in the coming weeks. Please follow our Facebook and website for the latest happenings.

Thanks indeed for all your continued and unwavering support!
Stay Healthy and Be Strong!
