They say all good things would come to an end at some point — indeed, it’s time to wrap up Sonic Anchor on a high (and loud!) note.
The last edition of Sonic Anchor is joined by artists from the Push the ENVELOPE sound art initiative (2023-24): Pete Yu, Dmitry Po, Cheri Tang , Andy Kwan, @space_bar_presser, Tina Yeung, Timothy Choi and Preston Lui. Many of these artists launched their practices through PTE, and we are curious and excited to hear what they’ve been up to since!
Pete Yu will transform the McAulay Studio into a resonant body with an installation of acoustic instruments and speakers.
Dmitry and Cheri will take us through a digital meditation by combining their individual practices of blending natural materials into an ambient soundscape. Andy Kwan and his group (space_bar_presser, Tina Yeung, Timothy Choi and Preston Lui) will turn sound into a game of frequency, creating a retrospective of sound-making by reducing them into the barest possible form.
