Public Art Exhibition Full-Time Ambassadors (Contract-based; 1.5 months)


Job Duties

Contract period: December 2019 – January 2020 
 

To raise public awareness on mental well-being in Hong Kong, Hong Kong Arts Centre will present a public art exhibition with large-scale interactive art installations in Tsim Sha Tsui East  from early December 2019 to early January 2020. Applicants must be available to attend the training sessions on mental health in late November 2019.

                                                                                         

Job Duties:

  • Support the operation team in day to day running of the exhibition
  • Maintain and operate the exhibition area along with other members of the team
  • Answer general enquiries, ushering and promote exhibition to visitors
  • Be comfortable to communicate with all age groups and backgrounds; assist with on-site arts workshops, opening events, and public lecture, as well as conducting surveys.
  • Assist and provide support on exhibition activities
  • Need to work at outdoor environment

Requirements

  • Holder of HKDSE or above is an advantage.
  • Interest and passionate with arts, social and topics related to general well-being
  • Flexibility in working hours
  • Good verbal communication skill in English, Cantonese and Mandarin a must
  • Relevant work experience such as social work is an advantage

Working Time between : 10a.m. – 10p.m. (Working hours will be on shift rotation, 9 hours shift)

School Facilities Assistant (Part-time, required to work at 7:00pm to 11:00pm)【Ref No: PT-SFA (NS)】


Job Duties

  • Work in different campuses (Mainly in Chai Wan and Shau Kei Wan District)
  • Work in shifts (Depends on the school operation or course schedule , will work from 7 – 11 in the evening and on weekends and Sundays)
  • Equipment and venue settings for the school to prepare for classes and activities, including setting up furniture and equipment
  • Responsible for handling student equipment and checking the various equipment and facilities of the campus, including cameras, camcorders and projectors
  • Provide operational support to all departments of the school, including the delivery of documents between campuses, transportation of heavy equipment, general furniture and maintenance of equipment in school
  • Handling student inquiries about equipment and venue facilities and prepare paperwork

Requirements

  • Secondary School level; HKCEE (Preference will be given to candidates who has 5 passes); HKDSE (Preference will be given to candidates who passes in Chinese Language and English Language with level 2 or above);  HKALE A- Level (Preference will be given to candidates who passes in Chinese Language and English Language)
  • One year working experience
  • Mature, motivated, eager to learn and progress, responsible, able to work as a team
  • Able to speak and write simple English (to communicate with foreign teacher)

Part-time Ushers


Job Duties

  • Provide ushering and front of house service in theatres, assist in house rules and regulations enforcement
  • Perform effective communication with patrons, guests and venue hirers
  • Assist in crowd control to ensure smooth running of events and activities
  • Handle enquiries and provide high standard of customer services for venue visitors
  • Assist in facilities management for maintaining a clean, safe and comfortable environment for all venue users
  • Update signage / poster/ publicity material for the public in the premises
  • Assist with other functions as instructed by Duty Manager

Requirements

  • Holder of HKDSE or above with relevant experience in customer services is an advantage
  • Pleasant, energetic, extrovert and willing to help customers
  • Good communication skills with proficiency in spoken English, Cantonese and Mandarin
  • Required to work on weekdays’ evenings as well as in weekends and public holidays
  • Immediate availability is preferred

Over the years, Hong Kong Arts Centre has offered opportunities to local and overseas university students to gain an exciting and fulfilling experience through our internship and volunteer schemes. Our internship programme provides an excellent opportunity for their students to explore their potential through hands-on work experience, gaining exposure to the different aspects in the operation of the Hong Kong Arts Centre. The learning experience is a stepping stone to a promising future in arts administration and arts education.

Are you art lovers? Do you have time to spare? Join the Hong Kong Arts Centre as a volunteer! Our volunteers come from a variety backgrounds, helping with events and programmes and providing administrative support to the Hong Kong Arts Centre. They are also trained to give docent tours. Volunteers can participate in various types of service, depending on their knowledge, interest and availability. No previous experience is required. Let us know your availability.
