(March 2024 Vol.29)

Forward

As a new year begins, everything takes on a new look. Upholding the mission of promoting local art, the Hong Kong Arts Centre (HKAC) organised fascinating programmes covering a wide range of artistic disciplines at the beginning of 2024. Examples include the art workshops presented by the large-scale community art projects ‘A Mind-friendly Estate Model at Cho Yiu Chuen’ and ‘RE: Tai Kok Tsui’, the Cultural Masseur’s string quartet concert combined with sand art, Comix Home Base's book launch event, the exhibition ‘Closer Together’ which celebrates the partnership between the Hong Kong Art School and RMIT university, offering the public unique and innovative art experiences. Entering the city’s Arts Month in March, HKAC will present an even more enriching array of art programmes. First and foremost, we have the annual Hong Kong Arts Centre Open House, allowing visitors to appreciate art and explore the joy of life within HKAC's building. The 29th ifva Festival will also hold a series of short film screening and media art exhibitions, showcasing outstanding works by creators from different Asian regions. For the ongoing CREATORS FOR TOMORROW project, HKAC will bring together the previous awardees in a joint exhibition, creating new opportunities for these exceptionally talented artists. As a long-term cultural partner of Art Basel, HKAC will again participate in the international art fair this year. Through these programmes, we aim to enhance public awareness of Hong Kong art while facilitating cultural exchanges between the local art scene and international communities. Together, let’s participate in the city's art events and experience the charm of art!
